## Description

Pratley Steel Putty is an exceptionally high strength, hand mouldable, putty-like adhesive. Mixing equal proportions of the resin and hardener supplied in the form of sticks yields a highly versatile, medium speed putty with a 1001 uses. PROPERTIES: 1. Very high strength. 2. Medium speed cure. 3. Can be shaped and moulded. 4. Adheres to most rigid materials. 5. Once set can be sawn, filed, machined, sanded. 6. Accepts paint. 7. Good electrical insulator. 8. Withstands most chemicals, mild acids, oil, petrol, etc. 9. Can be smoothed and shaped with a wet finger or spatula. TIME TO SET: (Temperature & quantity dependant) - Sets hard in ± 45 minutes (at 23°C). - Should be applied within 15 minutes of mixing. - Reaches 75% strength in 8 hours. - Reaches full strength in 2 days. SOME SUGGESTED USES: 1. Seal metal water tanks and cracked motor car sumps. 2. Repair metal castings. 3. Replace broken handles and knobs on utensils. 4. Repair ceramic fuse holders and insulators. 5. Repair car radiators and leaking metal petrol tanks. 6. Mend garden implements and metal watering cans. 7. Re-fit loose screws. 8. Make your own models and sculptures.

Review: As your parents always taught you, read the directions and it will WORK! - Sounds like many people here didn’t read the instructions. It’s not a difficult process by any means, but you have to follow the directions explicitly or it won’t work. Here’s the short version: the package comes with two putty sticks. You have to cut equal amounts of both, then knead to MIX them together. If anyone just opened and used one stick, you never even got to try the full product. After that it’s easy - keep kneading in your hands for about 8 minutes (the directions tell you what consistency to look for and you’ll see the two different putty colors become one) and apply. It doesn’t “turn into steel” but becomes hardened enough over the course of two days to be as strong as metal. We used it to repair our (already broken and repaired 2x) mailbox. The first two times the box broke we used JB Weld, and it never held long term or against the direct sun. This stuff is crazy good, easy to work with, and looks great because you can actually mold it with your hands, work it with tools to shape, and paint it once set.
Review: No mess, really strong. - If you have a clue about catalyst reactions, you'll know to mix (knead) it well. Instead of buying a new mailbox or bracket to go atop the steel pole set in about 200 lbs. of concrete, I took a chance on this stuff. The "Dad-built" bracket had finally just ripped apart from too many juvenile-delinquent home-run swings with bats and pipes. The thing had stood up to 40 years of major abuse from not-even-minor-leaguers. Anyhow, I only used half a stick of product on the heavy steel mailbox. Held it in place for about 5 minutes, as it was just balancing on bracket. Fully expected box to fall off next time too much mail/packages were forced-in. To my great satisfaction, the box is still there 6 months later. (And I still have half a stick(s) of product.)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems to be hold up good,

I used this for rebuilding a bakelite handle for our stovetop griddle. It seems to be holding up to the heat and use very well so far.
