It does exactly what you need it to do and it has the flexibility to handle a more complicated setup as it has two cold shoe mounts. I mounted both a small light and mic to get better sound and it worked great. The side mount can be turned to either side to best fit your phone. And of you don’t need it, you can remove it so it is smaller and simpler and lighter.A few features that make it useful.There is a ¼-20 mount on the bottom so you can mount it to a light stand, tripod, or any compatible ¼-20 thread for a locked down shot or even use with a gimbal.The phone grip opens from 2.1 inches (54mm) to 3.7 inches (95mm) so it fits most smartphones.You can of course mount your phone to take video like it is a video camera or turn on your front facing camera and you can shoot yourself with a light and better mic than your phone has built it.And the Bluetooth trigger works great to activate either video or photos. It makes the triggering the phone easy with one hand. Just pair it with your phone and it just works. I had no issues pairing or making it work with either my iPhone 7 or XS.My only issue was with the double ended screw that mounts it all together. I noticed that I had to loosen that part if the phone grip tightening nut at the bottom felt stuck. Not a big deal, and once I figured that out it was easy to align the side mounted cold shoe to either side as needed.Overall, it’s a solid little hand grip for your phone. Easy to use. It has threads on the top and bottom of each component to link with something like a tripod or light. It also has the extension arm which has a hotshoe to attach a microphone or other device.Then you can combine two of them together to have a 2 point system which helps immensely with steady b-roll footage. I am a travel vlogger and sometimes I really don't want to cart around my digital SLR, this is a perfect accessory for me to take with me that is lightweight and versatile!
