The temperature range is from 100 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. It is accurate and easy to use. It is not mercury; it has a bright red indicator.I live near sea level and placed this in a pot of water. When the water started to boil, this read exactly 212 degrees Fahrenheit. If you live significantly above sea level, then water will boil at a lower temperature, the higher you go, the lower the boiling point. Salt water has a higher boiling point.I have used this thermometer when heating honey for mead-making, and to heat sugar to make candy and marshmallows. It has performed very well for all tasks.
