I like this headlamp because it has a low profile and is less likely to get caught up on my telescope as I peer through it's eyepiece. But most of all, the red lamp works well and once you cycle it into "red" mode - as long as you leave it alone after that - a quick push of the button turns it off. To turn it on again, you just press the button and the red mode is remembered. I don't really like that if you don't get the timing right - you try to turn it off sooner than four seconds...that it instead changes modes to white. That's a minor annoyance and way better than other headlamps that cycle through the other modes no matter what! But you know what would be even better? Just give me a real hardware switch! A slide switch. One way is white, the other red and the middle off. Genius! I don't know why I must think of these things myself!
