I had figured spending the extra money would be worth it. However, the universal holder (that slip-on one you can use to mount something like a pencil or pen instead) immediately fell apart. This component was the main reason I even wanted a drawing compass: I was unable to re-assemble it, nor find any contact information from the manufacturer "Rotondo." I received a replacement promptly from Amazon, but the second one broke in the exact same manner after trying a few tests with the ruling pen. The thread of the little plastic nut that holds the assembly together is very fragile and breaks, rendering the component useless.
