The container is made of a polystyrene pressed material and does not have a hard plastic outer case to support it so wouldn't risk filling with water and lifting it. **Q: is this ok for hot food?** A: I own a cafe use these boxes to transport food they work really well. But do not clean with sanitizer as it eats the material **Q: Is this suitabler for ice and drinks?** A: Sorry I am not sure. It is pretty thick polystyrene so I would think that Ice would stay frozen for quite a while.
