My fence is only 10 meter square.** A: Really needs to be in free space to work optimally, running along a fence could cause grounding and impact performance. **Q: Will this long wire work on all am. fm & ssb** A: Yes, it is fitted with a 9:1 Balun that should match the 20m long end fed wire to the input of your receiver. It is designed to operate and tune on the Amateur bands from 80m to 6m, but will work over these frequencies simply as an antenna for a receiver . You need to earth the screen of the 50 ohm coaxial cable to a good outdoor rod earth, or to the receiver that should be earthed via the 3 pin UK plug. If you are going to connect this to a antenna to a transmitter, then you will most likely need an ATU to match this antenna to the output of the transmitter to give a low SWR. The insulated antenna wire is multi strand and clear plastic insulated and designed to handle 400W output power from transmitter. The coaxial cable requires a Male PL259 adapter connecter at each end. **Q: I want to use this wire whilst out portable. What would the best configuration be; horizontally about 1m off the ground or in an inverted V?** A: Horizontal as high as you can otherwise inverted v **Q: Is it best to earth the coax screen or the other lug on the antenna balun box?** A: Essentially, the coax screen link will be in place, as the screen via the input coaxial connector will be at a floating ground via the box if the box is used without an earth rod tied to the earth tag. However, it'll really be a case of you'll want to tie the earth tag of the antenna box to a ground rod or worst case a ground of some sort - because the quality and presence of an antenna ground has quite an impact on both effectively tunable bandwidth and radiation pattern. So, it'll be adequate to just 'ground' the tag to some ground or rod or a long radial, the coaxial connector on the Tx/Rx feed side will be linked anyhow, so there's little or no point adding an extra screen to ground connection. You may find, you'll want to ground a rig side earth tag to ground or 'ground level' pipe. Very pleased with the purchase ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ HF multiband antenna *by N***. on 3 May 2023* All good, problem was it rattled, took lid off waterproof box to find the large ferrite ring had come loose, just not enough glue, or had been given a good drop in transit. Engaged trusty glue gun, put back in place. While I was inside box had a look at the quality of windings and soldering, all very good, high quality everything inside, and no doubt it can handle 400 watts. Only dropped a star as could have done with some more / different gliue. Very pleased overall with it. Still use the internal tuner, combination means it works well, don't have (can't afford) a fancy analyser to test it with.
