## Description

Product description The newly designed Spartan Power SP-TS4500PLUS transfer switch builds on the immense popularity of the original SP-TS4500 transfer switch by adding features it's customer asked for! The new solar & wind dual power transfer switch allows the user to define exactly what voltages he or she requires for the Cut-off and Recovery points. Also, the new SP-TS4500PLUS can be used with 12V, 24V or 48V DC input, no more purchasing separate models. This model can also be used all over the world as it can accept 110-120Vac 60Hz or 220Vac 50Hz! 5500 watts at 110VAC, 50A transfer switch. WORKS LIKE A UPS, BUT IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION! The SP-TS4500PLUS will switch to the grid when your batteries reach a user defined voltage, once the batteries reach the user defined Recovery Point Voltage, power will transfer back to battery power. Great for solar or wind systems on those cloudy or windless days and your batteries get low. Take charge over your battery bank! U.S.A. based tech support! BRIGHT LCD DISPLAY INTERFACE ALLOWS THE USER TO SET AND SEE CONTROL FUNCTIONS! LCD interface 1. LV-SW - Set Low Voltage Cut-Off 2. BAT-V - normal displaying battery voltage 3. HV-SW - Set High Voltage Recovery Point 4. 12V, 24V, or 48V Right arrow shows low voltage triggered switch to AC mains. Left arrow shows that power is restored to the inverter. LCD turns red when no function control display, fixed display after power on. The battery icon shows low voltage status. Review: 4 year UPDATE - Still works great. - Original Review from 2020 - The unit arrived quickly, real quick! Pretty straightforward install. A small problem at first, but the customer service was good. However, I found the problem (some gunk got into the terminal block), fixed it quickly and the switch works perfectly! Updated Review from May 2024 - Well, it has now been a bit over 4 years and the unit still works great. I presently have a 2,700 watt solar array feeding into four, 24v battery banks that feed into a 24v, 2500 watt pure sine wave inverter. The transfer switch changes from solar to grid power depending on my battery conditions. It has worked flawlessly. I routinely run a 12k BTU minisplit heat pump, 800 watt HP graphic workstation, a pellet stove (backup) and my entire living room including 65" TV, lights, modems, etc. Batteries go low, it shifts quickly. Every now and then my big computer monitor (45") will turn off, but not the workstation and I just turn the monitor back on. Am not updating my solar system to 5,000 watts in the arrays and 12,000 watts of battery banks. Going to power up an additional minisplit heatpump. I'll update if any problems.
Review: Using the switch to solve a battery charging problem - I used this switch to solve a problem I had. I first had put in four 100 watt solar panels with a 40 amp Renogy controlled. When I found that wasn't enough wattage to run my room air conditioner I installed four 320 watt panels with a 60 amp Renogy controller. My batteries were immediately being overcharged to 15.5 volts. Upon checking I found that the 40 watt Renogy controller is not designed to be ran in parallel. So I installed one of these switches to turn off the four 100 amp panels when the voltage reached 13.8 volts and back on when the voltage on the batteries reached 13.4 volts. I wired the four 100 amp panels to the left side of the switch which is what is normally the grid side. So far everything is working fine for now. In the future I'll probably replace the smaller controller with one that will run in parallel.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: In case of grid power outage, will this unit keep using the inverter power even if the battery goes below the low voltage cut-off?**
A: If there is no grid power available, and the batteries fall below your low voltage battery cut-off...your inverter will shut down.

**Q: My invertor is 1000 watts can the spartan 4500 w gave a output more than the invertor 1000 watts**
A: Spartan is a 4500 watt that takes in input the 1000 watt inverter is 1000 watt output is not going to increase your inverter power

**Q: i would like to use this to run a grid tie inverter once my battery are topped off**
A: That is pretty sparse information about your setup but the purpose of this device is to use an inverter/use batteries at voltages you set or otherwise it uses grid power. Or phrased another way, it uses inverter/batteries until the voltage drops to voltages that you set and then it switches to grid power to save your batteries. This answer is for the TS4500PLUS model.

**Q: the Battery Plug is it a special one ? it looks like in the pictures**
A: No, not special. It only has to house small cable (10 AWG for example) as it is only used to read battery voltage. Your thick battery cables would be going from the inverter to the battery(ies)

### ⭐⭐⭐ Works ok with 1 issue
*by J***S on July 19, 2024*

The product works as intended for the most part. Please make sure to dial in your voltage cutoffs or it will drain your battery to 0. Since the power to run the unit is connected directly to the battery system, it will continue to draw power even if the inverter shuts off. Additionally as many others have noted, there is an inaccurate voltage measurement that reads lower than the actual current voltage around 0.2 volts. This means that you have to put a bit of slop in your cutoffs, but that runs the risk of depleting your battery. I also wish there was a way to get ver ride the cutoffs if there was a power outage to keep vital systems online.
