Firstly this stove does not hot spot like the MSR, this in turn means this stove is far better at actual cooking and therefore able to simmer. Boil time is pretty much the same as the MSR. I chose the one without ignition as piezo can be hit and miss on whether you get a good one or not, therefore one thing less to go wrong. Lastly being Japanese made the quality is far superior to Chinese made equivalents, and that comes from personal experience, the materials look like I will get many years of use. I highly recommend this mini stove, also must add it comes with a quality pouch so takes little space in your rucksack. This Amicus stove was bought to replace an MSR pocket rocket, which didn't fit my new Primus pot very well. I've already spent 12 days cooking on it, and am very impressed. It's well made, simmers well, very wind-resistant, fuel efficient, burns butane with a decent size flame right down to neat freezing temps.
