## Overview

The Garmin Descent T2 Transceiver is a compact, rugged dive accessory rated to 20 ATM, designed to wirelessly transmit tank pressure, air consumption, and dive data to compatible Garmin Descent dive computers. Utilizing advanced SubWave sonar technology, it supports real-time communication and monitoring with up to 8 divers within a 30-meter range, enhancing safety and situational awareness for professional and recreational divers alike.

## Description

Every breath, every tank, every buddy on your dive — track them all on your wrist when you pair the Descent™ T2 transceiver with compatible air-integrated Descent™ dive computers (sold separately). Using enhanced SubWave™ sonar technology, this system lets you monitor up to 8 tanks (air pressure, use rate, time remaining and more) and exchange preformatted diver-to-diver messages with networked buddies wearing their compatible air-integrated dive computers (available with software v.15.70 or later). The transceiver’s 20 ATM dive rating means you can dive deeper with added confidence. A simplified pairing process using BLUETOOTH® Low Energy wireless technology makes it easy to identify your buddies’ names with the Descent T2 transceivers they’re wearing.

Review: I bought this along with the Descent X50i for a recent dive trip and did an extensive amount of research before going with this Brand / Model. I know Shearwater are pretty strong in the wireless market, but there were several features that Garmin offered that made me select the Garmin. I liked the idea of the Sonar technology and the increased range. Since I frequently dive with my family, I like the idea of being able to monitor their air/depth as they are just getting started with diving. One other factor that made me select Gamin over the other brands is my familiarity with Garmin. We use several of their products for running, cycling, etc. and have had consistently good experiences. Some additional notes on concerns I had: SubWave (Sonar) Noise: I read a lot about the sound that the SubWave makes. I didn’t hear anything and neither did the rest of my group. I thought maybe it was due to my age, but everyone else is in their 20’s and no one heard anything. I even had the T2 Transmitter power turned up one level from the standard to make sure I didn’t have connection issues and still didn’t hear anything. T2 Connection: I was testing the set up in a pool prior to our trip to make sure everything worked correctly and became concerned because the connection would drop and I kept losing the Air Pressure data. I came close to returning the unit thinking it was a defect, but luckily decided to call Garmin Support first. They were VERY helpful and explained that the unit uses Bluetooth above water and Sonar under water. When you initially enter the water, the unit will switch over to Sonar mode but it waits until you’re around 10 feet under. The pool I was using to test was only 8 feet deep so it never made the switch and would lose the Bluetooth connection within that time. I also learned that the T2 Transmitter has it's own depth gauge which drives the switch-over not the depth on the computer. Garmin assured me that it would be fine once I was in deeper water and it was. Everything worked perfectly. My last concern was that I’d lose the connection again when I was ascending and at a safety stop, but Garmin said that once it’s in Sonar mode it should remain there until I surface. They were right. I did 4 safety stops at depths from 20-12 feet and never lost connection. Overall I’m extremely happy with the T2 Transmitter. It held connection throughout the entire day, never dropping the signal. I’m looking forward to others in my group getting one so we can monitor each other’s air and depth, but that will require an additional investment.
Review: Great product arrived on time and has consistently worked and been beneficial for me as a side mount diver. Checking my air used to be uncomfortable but now I just look at my computer!!

Works flawlessly and the pressure matches my SPG exactly. I do hear the “chirp” occasionally that divers mention, but it’s so faint that I hear it maybe 20% of the time.
