I don't remember if it was a cost issue or if I just thought these were the other brand. I will say that while they work reasonably well. I likely won't buy them again.There are two specific problems I had with them. First, the tab that closes off the end of lace kept pulling off. I tried putting the lace tips in fully and partially, but when I pulled the tab when putting them on, it would come off. I thought this was really me not putting them on correctly so I tried several different ways, but they would still pull off. I have to be very gentle with the amount of force I use in pulling the tab now. It stays on, sure, but I know it will come off again when I am trying to get out the door because I am late.Second, the button itself is big. Not a huge issue I know and most likely won't have this issue, but when I am kneeling and my feet are under me, the button really does gouge into foot. I found out that I am actually kneeling a lot more than I realized (yeah, insert crude joke here),but because I have a 4 year old son, I am kneeling to get him dressed, to put his shoes on, the brush his teeth, etc... And, the button really presses in to the point I have to shift my foot.They do look nice. I have them on a pair on white sneakers and the contrast is pretty cool. The idea of them is great as well. Sure, tying your shoes isn't a big deal, but slipping them on quickly and not dealing with it is nice. In this case though, the design is slightly flawed for my use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Freedom from traditional laces! *by F***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2015* I've actually owned these for about a year, and have only just now remembered to write a review. This is the very first pair of "no-tie" laces I've ever owned, and the only thing I can say is "where have you been all my life?!" I'm actually one of those odd people who just hates shoelaces. No, there's nothing wrong with me physically that prevents me from tying shoelaces, and yes, I know it's a very minor thing, but for some reason, ever since I was a child, I've had a personal dislike of shoelaces. They just strike me as such a waste of time, and such an inefficient solution to the problem of keeping your shoes snug. I mean, all they ever do is force you to tie and untie them constantly, and then they keep coming untied while your walking. Then you trip on them and look silly. I mean, sure, I could just get over it and tie double knots or something, but it's the principle of the thing! So, long have I resisted the tyranny of laces! ….Until I got older, that is. It turns out that when you get to a certain age, it gets very hard to buy decent shoes with velcro anymore. That's when I realized that the world did not share my vision of a shoelaces-free existence, and I resorted to wearing sandals constantly. Then, one day I realized that hiking in sandals was pretty impractical, and I finally got sick of the sandals and just gave in and bought a nice pair of Sketchers. These were great, awesome-feeling shoes, but I never wanted to wear them because they came with laces that were short, made of slippery material, and constantly came untied.After awhile, I took to researching alternatives to shoelaces. I was actually looking for some crazy DIY project I could use, when I stumbled across these. Yes, really, I had never heard of bungee-type laces until I discovered these. "This is awesome!" I thought, "Now I don't have to fashion an awkward solution out of medical tubing and rubber bands!" I selected the bold "Fire Engine Red" color, and happily awaited my purchase. Once I got them, I found installation to be pretty easy. I have pretty standard sneakers, and they just lace up like normal laces, then you thread the ends through the cord lock, then adjust the tension to your liking (do this while you're wearing the shoe). I trimmed about 2-3 inches off of mine (leaving a good three inches of extra for clearance – I just tuck them under the criss-crossed lacing so they don't flop around), then heat sealed the ends (not included in the instructions, but passing the ends over a candle flame prevents fraying). Then I attached the aglet piece on the end. Installation had been easy up to this point, but the aglet was very hard to close, and kept wanting to snap back open. Once I finally managed to get them to snap closed, they haven't opened since (and it's been a year).I find that these bungee laces are far more comfortable than the old laces were, as they seem to auto-adjust to slight changes in my feet (swelling when it's hot outside, etc.). I remember my old laces, and always having to untie and retie them to adjust because they seemed to be too tight sometimes, but other times they would be far too loose and allow my foot to slide around. I think it's because the EZ laces are stretchy, but they never feel too tight or too loose, and I no longer have a problem with my feet sliding around. So, after that initial adjustment at the beginning, I have literally not had to adjust these since (which is amazing). However, if you ever did need to adjust them, it's easy to use the cord lock to do so (this is why you should leave about 3 inches of extra length on the laces, just in case).Lastly, I guess I should mention the limitations of this product. The laces are 1/8" width, so if your shoes have tiny lace holes, these might not fit. Also, each lace is 42" long, which is perfect for your average tennis shoe/sneaker, but only just. If you have something like boots, or even a half-boot type thing, then these will likely be too short. In that case, you could buy your own cord locks, shock cord (1/8" width), and aglets/lace locks (or just use my heat sealing trick), and DIY your own. Now, at this point you might be thinking, "Hey, isn't is just cheaper to DIY my own from the start and forget about this product?" Well...yes and no. If you're buying in bulk and intend to do like 20 pairs of shoes and only want a single color of laces/cord locks, then it's cheaper by the foot to DIY your own. However, if you only have 1 or 2 pairs of shoes to do, it's really cheaper and more convenient to buy these, and you have the advantage of a cheap, easy way to get a fun variety of colors. Personally, unless I ever get some boots, I'm going to stick to the ease and convenience of this product.So, to sum all this up for anyone who was intimidated by the wall of text I wrote above, these are far superior to normal laces. They take the hassle out of tying shoelaces, they made me love my sneakers again, they are easy to install, and they feel more comfortable than traditional laces. I highly recommend them. They meet several needs for me personally. #1, I hate re-tying my shoes all day long and/or untying double-knots at the end of the day, #2 I have arthritis and can be extremely stiff first thing in the morning, and tying even once can be a challenge at 4 a.m. before work, #3 my right foot can inexplicably swell, causing pain at the arch and making adjustments to laces a pain, and last-but-not-least #4 I'm a grown woman, I don't want to look like a 4 year-old!
