They have two attached straps that you can use to tie them up after you've un-inflated and rolled them up. The valve at the bottom works very easily - you simply open it, wait for a bit for the mattress to inflate, and then you can blow into it a bit more if you want it more inflated. Then, when you're breaking down, you open it and let the air out - and keep it open while you roll the pad, to get the remaining air out. then you close it, strap it up, and you're ready to go. The attached pillow inflates separately, which disappointed me a bit. You have to blow it up like any other inflatable.
