I recall at the time his only threats were 1.) Issac Mizrahi 2.)Todd Oldham 3.)Byron Lars ..just name a few from his generation . I think he really catapulted when he sold his soul like the late Alexander McQueen did for GUCCI.... to LVMH ... I suspected as much that his brilliance had to with ...hmmmm as they say .."BORROWING" from other's in pursuit to make his CREATIONS ... attractive to buyer's and the press.. Fashion designer's always "Rip-off" like major recording artists do ...when serving up "CREATIONS" to their glittering fans ...!
