I had it hanging in my 3 person tent. I used it with a 20,000 mAh rechargeable portable battery. It was perfect for a small tent like the above mentioned. However, if you want it for a larger tent you'll need 2 or 3 for the fan. The light is very bright. That would light up a huge 10 person tent fine. I took a star off because it got really hot after I used the fan for about an hour to an hour and a half and turned off. It wouldn't turn back on till it cooled off. Other than that. It is perfect for a small tent. The light if you put it above your camping spot hanging on a tree would be nice too. It would illuminate the whole area no problem. And for the backpacker.
