The solar panel charges the device and it does come with a SD card. I would highly recommend this purchase. Started bird watching over COVID lockdown. Always interested to see “who” is showing up to our feeders and this is a great option! It’s a win-win scenario - bird watching AND extra video security in our backyard. Pretty easy to put together and it even comes with a screwdriver. It has several mounting options - I opted to use the included strap for a non-permanent attachment to a telephone pole. It’s awesome that it’s off-grid with the included solar panel. The included weatherproof USB-C cable gives multiple options for length and placement too! Great video quality. Setup is pretty easy/painless through the app. Offers an optional cloud subscription for additional storage if desired, but it’s not a requirement to use the camera or keep recorded footage on the included memory card. There are several settings for automatically recording movement events - included the ability to be notified if you want. The hopper holds a good quantity of seed so it should stay filled for a few days at least (depending on how hungry your birds are). The feeder tray has perforations so water won’t accumulate and ruin the seed. All-in-all a very well designed feeder!
