I have drawers that are 14.5 inches deep by 35.5 inches long and want to put two 3 inch handles on them.** A: Hi Sue, I would say that yes it can. The directions state that it is designed for drawers up to 26" in length. When used that way it will align a single handle. For drawers greater than 26", they recommend 2 handles as well. The directions then provide the steps for drawers that are wider than 26" to install 2 handles. I did find when using this that the directions could be slightly confusing. So I'd recommend practicing the layout with a pencil the first time, or using a scrap piece of cardboard or plywood to be sure you have it set up correctly. **Q: Can this jig be used for installing handles vertically on cabinet doors? If so, what would be the max length it could accommodate?** A: Yes. The centers on handles will range from 3" to 4.5". You install a handle on the door up to 12" from bottom or top of the door. **Q: My cabinet and drawer pulls have 7.5" and 5" distance between drill holes. Will this tool work for me?** A: I think the widest it will go is 3" or 3 1/2". It would work if you set it up to drill one hole at a time. I used it to put handles on cabinet doors. This is the only Sommerfeld's tool I own, but I would happily get another if the need arises. The jig includes a long drill-bit for making holes for handles. It is a little bit wonky if you are doing like I did, and try to make a pair of holes vertically on a thin (2 inch wide) stile on a cabinet door. However being careful and using a spring clamp to hold the jig to the door without using the stop-bolt will suffice nicely.It is a little expensive, but it is a purpose-built specialty tool, and is extremely good at what it does. It saved me quite a lot of time over measuring out by hand, and the drill collars make sure that you are drilling straight. This tool makes it very difficult to mess up drilling handle holes, which is something that can be a pain (and very easy to mess up) when doing free-hand.I haven't had a project yet where I am able to use the stopping bolt to set a piece once, and then repeat the same holes on another piece (or 10 pieces), but I can tell that it will scale to that very easily, after all, that's what it was designed to do.The plastic is solid, it does not feel flimsy at all. It is thick and sturdy, but not heavy. It is easy to hold in one hand and use the drill in another hand.
