The Air Tags don’t really get that much of a workout, and the batteries would probably still keep powering the little devices for a while, but you don’t want them to fail at just the wrong time – like when your tagged suitcase doesn’t show up on the airport carousel. So, I follow the manufacturer guidance and put in fresh batteries each year. That means I need to keep fresh batteries on hand.Just as when I buy dairy products, when I purchase a package of batteries, I check the “use by” date. The PKCell CR2032 3V lithium battery product description says “5-Year Shlef [sic] Life,” and the sleeve I received is marked “Best Before 2029-12.” So, my concerns about getting batteries through the mail were eased. I like the way each battery is individually sealed in the sleeve, so that if one should happen to leak, the others will not be contaminated.
