Is this as good as Being Dead Is No Excuse (1st book) no, but it did get me giggling. Mrs. Hays & Mrs. Metcalfe are to Ladies I would love to meet. I love the stories of all the character's marriages and maybe marriages in this book as well as the recipes that follow on the weddings or brunches. Ideas you can take and use them wither you are getting married or just need to come up with something quick for a garden party, bible study or just a get together with girlfriends playing cards. I do love how they have a way of looking at Baptist people it's not only dead on but funny too.. I'm not into all the religious talky talk because I have a relationship with the Lord not a religion (even God don't recognize religion He looks at your heart and if you accept him). You can say I grew up as Southern Baptist and the way these ladies talk about that is all to funny, I love it.. Please note that this is stories for people to enjoy and this is how Southerner's grow up so if you read this and see digs to Baptist or Yankee's don't be offended because the stories told are the true way we grew up verses what today is like where morals are out the door and the less clothes you are wearing is like a competition. People are not getting married just living together, women don't need men, women and men dating younger then their own children it's all the rage today. What these Ladies have done is tell about real people who are down right funny in my opinion and have shown as time was for them changed over the years but yet there are still Southern Mother's and daughters who are keeping the tradition alive even in this crazy today world.. That is something to smile on about.. Is this book for everyone I would say yes but in my opinion sadly I think some people would be offended in todays thinking but it was also written in 2007 where we were able to say anything and not get a stone thrown at us. So if you love humor and great stories of other people's lives and recipes then this book is for you... like I said I would love to meet these two funny, classy ladies.. we have a lot to talk about.. As a Southerner, Southern people, lifestyle, etc. is one thing I feel I know. As I was jotting down some notes on elements I want to include in my current WIP (Work in Progress), I remembered a book, which I read years and years ago, called  Southern Ladies & Gentlemen . I came to Amazon to find it ... found it ... and then found this author's work as well. From the title alone, I knew I had to have it!I enjoyed the read. The writing is great and the information is accurate. Goodness gracious but I could hear my mother in some of these chapters! At one point -- during a visit with Mother -- I laid on top of her bed (she was all propped up with pillows behind her and a good book of her own in her hands ) and read to her from the pages. We both laughed so hard we had tears pouring down our cheeks. That's a cliche, I know, but it's true!Read it and have fun with it!
