I also use sharp scissors to cut about 1/4 of the patch off so that it's not trying to stick onto the lower part of my lip that curls against my teeth. I’m betting my DRY LIPS are what make me successful using these. Use a sterile cloth or wipe to clean your lip and do not moisten. Apply patch.
