This unit had no EMI/RFI filtering in its specifications which was my preference. It does have the highest surge rating of 1500 Joules compared to competing products. **Q: Is it safe to plug a 6 plug surge protector strip with the cord on it, into one of the plugs in this and use it like normal?** A: Yes, but this already has a surge protector built in. You would be better off using your protector strip on another outlet. As long as the total load at any time on your outlet is under 1600 watts it is safe. Remember that surge protectors wear out over time, each voltage surge spike removes a bit of the surge protection permanently.
