The first one was and is still a great option. However, the new updates include speaker pockets for headphones or communication systems which the old design didn't have. Also the closeable front face guard vent is a great new feature I always wished the old version had. The one big change for this model is the inability to convert into the half helmet mode as the old model did. However, after using the old style for 3 years I never converted it to a half helmet I just never felt the need to remove more than the face guard. The new helmet is a tad lighter but feels a lot lighter in feel especially when wearing it. It is super comfortable and with the larger release buttons on the sides to remove the face guard makes this helmet an awesome and worthy contender for anyone looking for a helmet they can wear year round and have some versatile convertability for about $100 to $150 bucks less than the leading full face or modular flip up helmets. This is a nice quality and more affordable option. I loved the original so much I knew I had to check out the 2.0 model. I personally put the clear shield on because I wear prescription glasses with lenses that darken with exposure to uv light. (which is another selling point to this helmet that it comes with both a dark and clear shield).
