It takes 3 AAA batteries. It also takes another type of battery which I can't seem to source either in the shops or on the Internet. It is the brightest torch I've had and I'd wanted something brighter than my lenser torch which is less powerful. The brightness is such that you can see every spec of dust. So why only 4 stars? First, the instructions are poor - very basic and in poor English. And secondly, you can't vary the beam to a narrower spotlight which would have been nice. However, I'm not too concerned about this since the beam is wide and bright. It is also good for hunting in a dark cupboard for something because it properly illuminates the area whereas my lenser torch is a bit more like shining a candlelight and you can't properly see the contents in the area. It is a brilliant little torch, easily fits in a pocket or handbag and gives a bright clear light. Good zoom on it. Problem free order and was delivered well within the timescale given.
