Since the felt tip of the pen provided looked pointed I first taught the kid to dip fingers in water and move over the pages. Later I provided a brush so that the baby can dip in water and use. That too worked great and I think that's the reason the pages are still in good condition after using it for over 25-30 times. The pen would have torn the pages after a few uses since kids tend to use pens putting too much force. Hope this tip is useful for those purchasing the book for babies. Overall the book is good and fun to use, but since it is meant for babies or small kids, providing a brush instead of a pen would have been better.
