The turntable is smooth and has 3-speed choice, which is on par for turntables like these. It supports three different size records, which is great and gives it versatility and greater usefulness. I opened and looked at the cartridge and the belt, and they both look good quality and will last years. - The only shortcoming is in the speakers. They deliver a good sound but I end up using my own Sony and Bose speakers when I really want to hear quality sound. For most normal usage, the speakers that come with this set are fine.
