I also use a bit of paste to hold it in place, a very small amount at each corner of the IHS to hold it in place and it works like a charm. **Q: Which size is appropriate for which CPU's?** A: I have a Ryzen 7 2700X and got the 40x40 pad; it ever so slightly overlaps the edges of the CPU maybe by 1-2mm.
