Review: Just what you need - Small but effective — these dampeners noticeably reduce the pingy vibration in my racket and give a muted, more comfortable feel at contact. They’re made of dense poly-silicone and sit snugly between the strings without sliding around during play. Review: Great for absorption differences between racquets! - At a certain point in your growth as a tennis player, the feel of the racquet becomes important - especially if you are prone to soreness in your arm from overuse, like I used to be. Eventually, I bought some standard dampeners with the assumption that they are all pretty much the same. When a friend introduced me to these dampeners by ADV Tennis, however, I was extremely impressed with the variability in feel that these provide. I rotate between two types of racquets that vary widely in the absorption that they provide, which can throw me off when switching between them. The ADV dampeners have helped to reduce this variability and allow me to play consistently in the event that I need to change racquets in the middle of a match/lesson. Here are the racquets that I currently use and the dampeners that work best for them: WILSON BURN 100 (circa 2015/2016): This is my favorite racquet to play with. I can get some solid hits on the ball with a lot of top spin, but this iteration of the Burn series has low-to-medium shock absorption. I have been using the 1 Sorb (the "medium" dampener) with this racquet, and it has been working out really well. If I were to upgrade to the newer line of Wilson Burns, however, I would probably go with a dampener of a lower absorption as the new racquets do pretty well in this regard. HEAD GRAPHENE XT RADICAL PRO (newest model): I typically use this as a back-up, although it is, by all accounts, a very good racquet. The good thing about the Graphene racquet is that it absorbs shock pretty well. I find that when I am in good form and hitting my shots hard with a lot of top spin, however, I need some extra absorption with this racquet to make sure that I do not end up with an overuse injury. For the Graphene Radical Pro, I use the 1 Touch (the "lowest" dampener) to provide the small adjustment in shock absorption that I need. Overall, I am very happy with these dampeners. My only issue with them so far is that they are difficult to insert into the Graphene Pro's 16x19 string pattern, but I would rather put a little extra effort into inserting the dampener into a tight space than having a dampener that could fall off at any moment. (So far, none of the ADV dampeners have come close to falling off - unlike my old "standard" dampeners.)

**Q: How much weight does this add to the racket? It looks pretty bulky? Does it change the weighting of the rackets?**
A: Hi Doug -

Thanks for reaching out - I'm one of the founders of ADV and happy to help. The largest dampener (Sorb, 6 strings) is 0.24 oz, the middle dampener (Sorb, 4 strings) is 0.18 oz, and the smallest dampener (Touch, 2 strings) is 0.21 oz. This is pretty typical of most dampeners at those sizes.

We worked hard to get the perfect silicone composite and density to maximize dampening without adding significant weight. It’s worth mentioning that all dampeners will add a bit of weight but usually have a minimal effect on the racket balance because the dampener is placed at the balance point of the racket. The nice thing is with ADV dampeners you can test each type to see what is ideal for your playing style, racket, and strings.

**Q: I ordered 3 of the sorb marble and received 3 crystal touches (returning)....why is there not a 3-pack of black sorbs available to order?**

**Q: can you write on it with a sharpie?**
A: Hi Tom - Yes, you should be able to write on it with a sharpie. Curious, are you planning to write tips on it?

**Q: What does it mean to go from 100% "feel" with the smallest dampener to 25% "feel" with the largest dampener?  Is this about the vibrations felt?**
A: Hi WH - Great question! The more feel you have, the more crispness there is to each shot. We did a lot of testing and surveying - many players didn't want too much dampening and wanted some more of the natural crisp, ping sound and feel. So we decided to give everyone the option to choose what sensation they prefer between dampening/muting and feel/crispness. The Touch dampeners will give more vibration than the Sorb or Max Sorb. Small but effective — these dampeners noticeably reduce the pingy vibration in my racket and give a muted, more comfortable feel at contact. When a friend introduced me to these dampeners by ADV Tennis, however, I was extremely impressed with the variability in feel that these provide. I rotate between two types of racquets that vary widely in the absorption that they provide, which can throw me off when switching between them. The ADV dampeners have helped to reduce this variability and allow me to play consistently in the event that I need to change racquets in the middle of a match/lesson. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ For Oversize Racquets w/ Open String Patterns Only

I have put one of the three square damps on each of two racquets, a Prince and a Babolat, which both have 100 sq.in. heads (midplus). The damps push the two center mains apart on both racquets, so I can only conclude that these are made for oversize racquets specifically with open string patterns, which would have a little more space between the mains. I'm sure ADV is a good brand that means well, but I can't reconcile their lack of brand presence and neglect of indicating that this product is catered to a specific racquet class. For that in addition to the fact that they don’t fit well on a mid plus racquet with 16 mains (read: most common racquet form factor), I knock off a star. But in brief use with the Babolat, it performed just fine. If you are a beginning player or on the smaller/weaker side of human variation, you probably want to be using an oversize racquet with an open pattern anyway, for added power. These dampeners will work well for you, and I really must recommend them for the channel-locking structure that clamps around the string—you won't have to worry much about the damp falling off during games.
