I bought it to replace an older disposal that was leaking. I received it. It is a heavy item. But installation was easy, once I placed an up-side-down bucket under it to support it, while I moved it in place to mount it to the mounting rim/ring under the sink. After a couple of tries, I got it lined up properly, and turned it to lock it in place on the ring. Since this was a replacement, I did not have to install a new ring assembly in the sink, and I was able to use the existing plastic pipe that drained the older, defective unit. I am not a plumber. But it appears I have no leaks. The electrical cord was already connected to the new unit. I was able to plug it into the existing switched outlet, and when I turned it on it worked! It is a good deal quieter than my old disposal. This review is "preliminary" because, having just installed it, only time will tell how long it will function properly.
