The strategy is pandemic-Esque but I like the magic theme better. The more I play this game the more I come to appreciate how much love was put into making it. It is absolutely dripping with theme and and with all the events, quests, artifacts, everything just works so well together. The atmosphere is dark and desperate and there are a host of heroes to try and overcome the hordes of darkness with. The art is absolutely gorgeous -no cartoonishness here, it's somber yet appealing.I'm primarily a solo player with most games and Darkest Night is my go-to to scratch that itch. Be forewarned that this may take you a few goes before you actually have an idea what you're doing (I referenced the rule book and watched youtube videos). There are so many "if this then that"s at various stages and it can be confusing when you start playing. Despite this once you get it it's a heck of a ride and so much fun. If the theme appeals to you and especially if you like playing solitaire you can't go wrong with Darkest Night.
