## Description

Bob Smith Industries (BSI) Instant-Set CA Accelerator Foam Safe Pump Spray is a catalyst which acts as an accelerator that allows CAs to quickly cure in thick layers by enhancing the alkaline conditions during polymerisation. Instant-Set in a spray bottle is normally used to cure the CA that flows from joints when parts are pressed together. Applying an additional bead of thick CA along with a seam and then curing it with Instant-Set significantly enhances a joint's strength. For difficult to bond materials, Instant-Set can be applied to one surface and CA to the opposite surface. When brought together, they will bond instantly. Instant-Set is formulated with a strawberry scent and activates CA in 6 to 8 seconds without any degrading of the CAs strength, which can occur with many other accelerators. It is compatible with all surfaces, even clear plastic and white foam.

Review: I firstly heard about this particular product from a vintage radio restorer on YouTube who uses typical super glue (Cyanoacrylate) to repair hairline cracks in Bakelite cased radios but only when the damage is not visible to the eye such as the cabinet interior. Anyway my interest in how he approached repairing a Bakelite crack with cyanoacrylate was piqued when he presented a pump bottle of the BSI 'curing' accelerator and after a quick spray onto the glued region effectively set the super glue within around 20 seconds and the repair was then complete. Afterwards I thought about the possibilities of using this cyanoacrylate curing spray and how useful it would be in my electronic servicing work. As I tend to use super glue quite often in relevant situations I often get annoyed at how long the glue takes to bond two materials, usually plastics in my case and sometimes the necessity to hold two surfaces together with my hand/s until the glue eventually 'takes'. Fairly recently I decided to order the 'Bob Smith Industries Instant-Set CA Accelerator' on desertcart, the price of which was very reasonable and within a week it, (along with a couple of other items I'd ordered at the same time), arrived at my home and that evening I went about effecting a repair using super glue followed by a light spray with the BSI Instant-Set Cyanoacrylate Accelerator. Well I was very impressed with how quickly the spray cured and hardened the glue after application and I felt the end repair result was more akin to a fix using 2 part epoxy as the accelerator spray seemed to made the cyanoacrylate cure 'harder' other than just curing on its own. Highly recommend the Bob Smith Industries Instant-Set CA Accelerator Spray.

**Q: Does this set hot or cool?**
A: I use this glue for repairing broken finger nails, as I am a classical guitarist and solid nails are important. BennieV is right, using an accelerator on CA glue causes an exothermic chemical reaction, in other words, it produces heat. Depending on how much glue I apply to my nails, the amount of heat varies. I have yet to actually burn myself from using CA glue + accelerator, but sometimes it has been hot enough to produce discomfort for a second or two. For most uses, this level of heat is not a problem, but if you get it on your skin, it might be.

**Q: does this dry clear?**
A: Yes

**Q: Does this only come in a spray?**
A: This "Accelerator" typically comes in a spray bottle, you should also be able to purchase a refill bottle as well.  If you wish to apply the accelerator in a different manner you can simply unscrew the bottle and use the (water consistency) liquid as you see fit (ie eye dropper or syringe etc) .

**Q: Anybody know the difference between this version and the upgraded 152 stuff I’m seeing on this site?**
A: Don't know about the 152 stuff you mentioned, but if you are looking for something that makes super glue set immediately , like right now, just a little whiff of this Bob Smith stuff does the job. I've built many model planes with it and no telling how many other times I've used it when an instant set is needed.
