It was easy to swap out and works fine. I tested it- it beeps properly. There was nothing to solder. It comes with the exact wire termination (end clip) that fits perfectly onto the R1 circuit board. One caveat: when installing the speaker, gently remove the white paper adhesive cover. I roughly pulled on it and the entire adhesive ring detached from the fragile cloth speaker cover. My bad...
