Having to follow along on the color map is very confusing and time consuming. **Q: Did anyone find the yarn hard to pull through on this kit? I recently purchased 2 other WonderArt kits & returned as yarn was too thick** A: I have purchased alot of latch hook rug kits never had that problem. I can't imagine having that problem. **Q: Does this come with directions on where to latch on the desired color strings?** A: Many years ago or should I say the good old days the colors were printed on the latch hook fabric. Now it is printed on paper and it is necessary to count the number of squares and coordinate each strand. Not so bad if you organize your colors. I don't have this exact item. I purchased the eagle and deer. I put individual colors in sandwich bags and label them since some colors are very similar making sure to mark the color symbol on the bag for easy reference. Then I organize the sandwich bags into a plastic art project case. If pattern is too hard to see I enlarge it on my printer. Some color symbols start to look a like after awhile. A little bit of prep goes a long way. **Q: Does this item come with directions and everything I need? I have never done this and want to make it as a gift** A: I’ve never had a problem with any Wonderart latch hook product! I read where some found it difficult or didn’t have the patience to complete a rug, but I find doing them very rewarding!! Some complained the canvas wasn't printed with the colors. I think the colors were too similar and would make it very hard to complete. I f you can count to ten you should have no issues. To keep my place I would use a post it note to mark the pattern. I also found it easier to do it if I laid out the yarn in order and then hooked the rug. I usually split it up into 3 sections/ row. My only problem was figuring out the difference between the dark grey and the dark green. The black was very clearly marked with a white square. My only complaints would be the yarn tends to fray and some of the yarn was not the same length but nothing noticeable in the final project. Also separating the yarn was a REAL pain.
