Are these the same?** A: Good morning, the complete length of the glider is 40mm, the height of the stem from the top of the glider is 22mm. The complete length of the stem from the inside lip (the outer diameter of the base lip is 13mm and the diameter of the neck with the securing ring is 10mm) is 17mm and from the inside lip to the start of the securing ring 8.5mm and the thickness of the securing ring 2mm. Will these prevent moving whilst sat in the chair on a rug?** A: You should have no trouble with your chair moving if you fit these as my chair does not move easily even on a laminate floor. **Q: My aim is to avoid carpet damage and I am not bothered about gliding - will this damage carpet?** A: They spread the load over a greater area of the carpet than wheels so are kinder to the carpet but we found it still necessary to put a small rug under the chair as it was still leaving indentations in the carpet. Probably depend on the type of carpet. **Q: Will these fit an ikea malkolm chair?** A: sorry i can't say that they will. if the chair from Ikea has casters, then i would say yes. they all seam to be a standard fit. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars The Ideal Harwood Floor Chair Base *by T***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 December 2013* I have for some time now been using a very nice leather office chair that I purchased from Amazon, unfortunately these type of chairs are supplied with the castors on the base. Anyone with an expensive hardwood floor fitted in the office will not want to use these and the usual method of dealing with these is to use castor cups with the felt pads stuck to the base and the castors sit in the cups. In principle this works most of the time, but on occasion especially when you are in a hurry doing twenty things at once, you will pull the chair to one side and usually one or more of the cups comes off the castors. When I received delivery of the chair and assembled it I was thinking at the time as I pushed the castors into the five base supports of the chair, does nobody supply an alternative....?Well I did look at the time, but could not find any alternative, that is until just recently when the gas strut started to fail in the chair, when looking on Amazon for a suitable replacement I came across these High Quality Replacement Chrome Glides for castors, I immediately ordered them and also the replacement gas strut. I was surprised to find that they are very good quality for the price and the push in grip ring that fits into the base are all swivel jointed, they appear to be made from metal and are all quality chrome plated, with a soft compound type cushion on the base for your floor. To fit them you simply lie the chair on its side and pull out the original castors and push in the replacement glides it only took a couple of minutes.I have been using the new gliders for a couple of weeks now and have found them to be excellent quality and have had no problem whatsoever as they are a quality fitting. The only thing that should be considered is that they are a much smaller height than the captors and if you have a small gas strut fitted then you are going to loose some height from the chair as the castors that I removed were 58mm below the base and the new glides were approximately 20mm, this is a loss of 38mm in height, but this should not matter in most cases as most office chairs struts should cater for this. The other factor that should be considered is the diameter of the original grip ring on the castors, this can easily be measured by pulling one of the castors out to size this dimension.
