Release the button after the recording is complete and you will hear two “Beep” sounds , which means that your recording was successful. I purchased this as a gift for someone, so I could record a message for them to find one they opened it. The sound quality is quite a bit muffled when playing back a recording. it was fairly easy to set up initially. There were some issues of it not recording the entire message, so I had to try a few times. For the low price of this product, I am pleased with what I have received. The main reason I am only giving this 4-stars is because I feel like the quality could be improved a little. Overall, I would still recommend this as a fun gift.
