While it is expensive (or overpriced by these brands for their products), the benefits for a serious landscape photographer is fantastic with opportunities to use with other filters and indeed other lenses. I do have a Hoya Pro-1, which is also very impressive, but I prefer the firecrest as it allows me flexibility to use with other lenses and filters from the firecrest range.. It has to be bought with a filter holder ring, which can cause shadowing in the corners when using 24mm focal lenth on full frame, but that is due to laws of physics more then anything. So, I use 28mm onwards, which is fine for most application, but unfortunately means I cannot use my ultra wide angle lens with my set up . Only criticism is that the design of ultra slim can make it a fiddly to use and prone to getting stuck. This can be frustrating considering the price of the product paid. The customer service from Formatt Hitech were fantastic and very helpful indeed, who kindly offered to remove my stuck filter. When I posted it off, they removed it with a lot of difficulty and believe I had a defective filter. They kindly replaced it. I am not sure I would have received this level of service from another brand. Thank you Formatt Hitech! While the filter does get stuck time to time due to the design, I have managed to keep the filter ring lubricated so I can remove in the field when using. I have taken some great shots (attached example). I really like Formatt Hitech Firecrest filters which causes no colour castes, and all my collections of filters are from this brand. I did not go for other well known brands due to colour caste issues, and I am pleased to report Formatt Hitech Firecrest filters are completely colour neutral. The Formatt Hitech customer service is outstanding, and always available to answer my questions and resolve any issues/problems . Attached is a image taken with firecrest polariser, firecrest neutral density filter 10 stop and 2 stop soft grad filter, with no post processing. Results are excellent and yes, expensive, but you get your money's worth with quality performance. Also, I bought this when Amazon had an excellent favourable offer, which made it more affordable, so do watch out for a deal.
