The hardware is pretty good and the seat is nice and supportive. I don't weigh anywhere near the 400lb max weight stated but the seat does rock just a little where the post mounts to the bottom of the seat. The threaded steel post looks nice and screws up or down smoothly. However, I can't get it to totally lock in place. Maybe it's supposed to swivel a bit when you're playing. I'm using this on an e-kit, so I'm not beating the crap out of an acoustic kit which would really test the sturdiness.
