I think it's down to the elasticity and when baby get's heavier it would tend to stretch it a bit lower and this causes it to feel more heavy compared to a carrier. But you may not even notice until you try something else.Another nice feature is that you can wrap your bundle of joy and he/she is less exposed, at least head, hands and body.
