## Description

haisstronica Ferrule Crimping Tool Kit, AWG 24-10 Automatic Wire Stripper with AWG 23-7 Wire Crimper For Ferrule Connectors - desertcart.com

Review: Step up your electrical connections - I am getting in to some electronic control with DIN mount relay timer and DMX interface and they have screw terminal connections. The reason for this purchase is that I got an open frame power supply to power some LED strips so I bought a kit with heat shrink insulated spade connectors and a ratcheting crimp tool for them. Upon receiving that kit I decided that I needed automatic wire strippers. I have used one before, I don't recall the brand but it worked pretty well and wiring jobs are really nice when you can cut a wire, strip it and crimp it with the correct terminals. So I was looking at automatic wire strippers and I found this kit and it killed two birds with one stone. I now have automatic strippers for all of my wiring jobs and a ferrule crimper for wires that go in to screw terminals so I don't have stray wire strands floating around. I also bought two 2,500 ferrule terminal kits so possibly a lifetime supply. Any way, as wire strippers go, they seem ok. They stripped some 16AWG easily and I used the stop to set the strip length to match a ferrule. It worked but the adjustable stop is plastic. I think it will be a good tool for me but it's going to live in my electronics tool kit, not at the bottom of a drawer of tools or in a tool belt. I just don't think the plastic stop will last if you treat it more like a wrench than a precision tool. If you break the stop it will still work as a stripper, you will just have to set the strip length by eye every time. They have steel inserts on the stripper and the wire cutter feature too. The cutter works fine, the steel insert is hard enough and sharp enough to cut through copper. There is also a crimper feature for insulated and uninsulated terminals but it doesn't ratchet and the jaws don't seem to align any better than a bargain bin non-ratcheting crimper. I will probably not use the crimper because I have better. As crimpers go, the ferrule crimpers seem good. They created a nice crimp on a 16AWG stranded wire. It is a square crimp which I think is fine for a wire going in a screw terminal. There are hexagonal crimpers but they are more expensive and I fail to see how that would be better. In terms of construction these crimpers could be treated like a wrench and last a long time with pretty rough handling. I can already tell that I will be using it a lot. All in all, I added a lot of capability and convenience for my wiring tasks without spending much money. I have been trying to do this ever since I used a really expensive crimp tool to crimp thermocouple pins for an expensive connector. I loved the convenience and quality of the crimp but not the price. Now there are a lot of inexpensive imported crimper that have most of the quality and durability of the expensive name brand tools so once you figure out what type of terminals you need to crimp, you can usually find a decent quality tool that's probably good enough for anything short of mass production wire crimping.
Review: Daily use - It has become my go to at work, the stripper makes life easy, no searching for the right slot for the gauge, and the crisper works well too.
