Good reception on AM and FM, and sounds good for its size. I use it everyday. I decided to use the barrel jack power port on the side with a 4.5v adapter to eliminate the inside power transformers radio noise while listening to AM. Little did I know that the barrel jack would try to charge the batteries inside the unit. I picked the radio up and noticed it was warm. I unplugged it and opened the battery door. I put a piece of paper towel in the back to keep the battery door from buzzing while playing music, and a good thing I did. The batteries were warm and spraying an oily substance all over the battery compartment. I heard a hissing noise coming out of them, so I rushed outside and flung them into the snow. I didn't read anywhere in the instructions that the little port on the side was for charging. Great little radio, but just be aware to remove the batteries inside of it if using a external power adapter in the 4.5v port. Review: I really like my new Prunus portable radio because it has great reception and I have the option of using batteries or plugging it in. I especially like that it is large enough to be stable unlike my previous portable that tipped over. The Prunus has two simple dials and specific AM and FM frequencies are easy to pick up. The affordable price would be hard to beat for a product of this quality.
