Review: It’s a fun game to play for an hour or so, but after a while I do find myself getting bored of it. The MyGM mode is the exception to this, but otherwise the Play and Universe modes are the same rinse and repeat formulas of the previous games. Universe mode hasn’t much advanced since WWE ‘13. The new feature in this iteration of WWE 2K is that you can play as a single character, so it’s like a season mode, but not really. The story mode is good for unlocking extra arenas and wrestlers etc., but again it gets so repetitive and tedious after an hour or so. I feel like the game would’ve been better if the single player universe mode would’ve been integrated with a story mode, a bit like the season mode in WWE Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth, which I still play through and seems more enjoyable than what has been presented for WWE 2K23. War Games is a fun added match type, and Cody Rhodes, Solo Sikoa, RVD, The Hurricane, and Molly Holly are all nice new base game additions to this roster, but don’t justify paying full price for.
