I've since found the Niterider but I have to say this light is superior in several ways. Last week I had the opportunity to do a night ride (it finally dropped below 80F at 7pm) and compare them literally side by side.- The Cygolite is noticably smaller than the Niterider.- The Cygolite has a FAR superior mount. It's nothing special but the Niterider mount is a complete disaster.- The Cygolite has a toolfree swappable battery. Spare batteries sell on Amazon for ~$35.- The Cygolite was 20% cheaper than the Niterider.- At the low setting the Cygolite is slightly brighter but they were identical at the highest setting.- They have similar beam patterns. Perfectly round with a slight brightning in the center.- The Niterider charging port is slightly more secure than the Cygolite.- The Niterider flash mode makes more sense to me than the Cygolite. The Niterider simply flashes on and off and is great at dawn and dusk. The Cygolite pulses between low and high brightness. Very annoying once it's dark. Pointless when it isn't.- The Cygolite is easier to use because it cycles through all the different settings rather than the Niterider which makes you remember that to reach flash mode you have to hold the switch down for two seconds then click once more. I can't remember that stuff at 3am.- Cygolite is made in America - So is Niterider - Yeah!Riding with my Lumotec, Niterider, and Cygolite all going full blast is like riding a motorbike (minus the engine). I can see the fog line more than 100 yards ahead and street signs are visible over a 1/4 mile ahead. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bright! Good safety even for daylight riding. *by -***- on Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2016* This light is very bright! In the neighborhood, it illuminates street signs at least a quarter of a mile away, and I don't even have the light aimed straight ahead (I keep it turned down slightly to avoid glare with oncoming traffic). I like the multiple modes it has, and if I am riding the streets in the neighborhood during daylight hours, I use the pulsing light. I also have a Cygolite rear red LED light that I keep on as well. A good pair for safety! Kudos to Cygolite customer service as well--my light arrived with a charger that died a second or two after plugging it in. They shipped another one and I had it within the week. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Even on the lowest setting visibility is great at night *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2015* Used for daytime visibility and night riding during 25 mile commute on trails and public roads. Even on the lowest setting visibility is great at night, and find it impossible to outride the light it provides. The medium mode with pulse flash is used most often for added visibility for vehicles. I've never found the need to use the brightest setting, the light output is that good. The only criticism I have is that the light pivots based on the tension of a single screw. It doesn't like to stay consistent and find myself reaiming the light somewhat regularly. Everything else about the light is excellent. It's easy to charge, easy to mount, and the light itself has a quick-release making removal quick. Highly recommended!3 years later and this is still going strong. I don't ride at night as much anymore, but I do ride in the winter and in the rain and this is ALWAYS on my bike.
