## Features

- ASSEMBLED AND TESTED IN USA: We care about our products - we assemble, test and certify every ExpoDisc in California on our transmission spectrophotometer.
- DURABLE IMPACT RESISTANT DESIGN: ExpoDisc v3 is made from impact resistant polycoarbonate materials that will not crack or break, even when dropped.
- QUICKLY SET WHITE BALANCE: Set your white balance in-camera (no software required), or capture a gray reference image to use with your preferred image editing software when processing your RAW files in post production. In most cameras you can set a white balance in 15-20 seconds.
- EASIER-TO-USE THAN A GRAY CARD: Simply place the ExpoDisc v3 in front of your lens and capture the incident light while setting your camera's white balance.
- NEW WIDE SPECTRUM WHITE BALANCE: The ExpoDisc v3 enables precise custom white balance adjustment across the visible spectrum (380nm to 700nm) and extends to the infrared spectrum (700nm to 2200nm).
- INFRARED (IR) WHITE BALANCE: ExpoDisc v3 maintains excellent light transmission from 350nm to 2200nm allowing for consistent white balance when using infrared (IR) filters for infra red photography.
- CALIBRATED LIGHT TRANSMISSION: The new ExpoDisc v3 is calibrated to be inline with ANSI standards for digital light meters, ensuring approximately 14% light transmission.
- IMPROVED EXPOSURE ACCURACY: With this calibration, the ExpoDisc v3 offers a notable improvement of approximately 1/3 to 1/2 f/stop when using it for exposure metering on digital cameras.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works perfectly
*by A***D on July 5, 2025*

It took be a bit to get in the habit of shooting towards the position of where I’ll be photographing, but I really like the results. With more practice, this should become second nature.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy way to set Custom WB without needing extra hands
*by L***W on April 18, 2025*

Very easy way to get an image to using to set CUSTOM WB in a digital camera. Yes, I know you can use a gray card, setting the FOV to include just the card and then take an image but with this, snap it on, point it towards your subject and take image. No muss, no fuss, no extra hands needed. Set WB and you're done. No need to frame up anything in the VF or dig out a gray card that either someone has to hold (I usually shoot alone) or set it on something (hard to do sometimes depending on where you're at). And since I use KASE magnetic filters on my lenses, I bought the 82mm version of the ExpoDisc and simply mounted an 82mm KASE screw-on filter magnetic adapter ring on it. A note here is doing it this way also provides me a way to mount the ExpoDisc without having to screw it on and off any lenses. Using a KASE 77-82mm magnetic step-up ring I already carry with me to allow sharing 82mm filters with 77mm lens filters, I simply magnetically pop on the 77-82 step-up ring onto any lens with 77mm front threads that I already have setup to work magnetically, then magnetically pop on the 82mm ExpoDisc on the front of the step-up ring, take the image, set the WB and I'm ready to go. Very quick and painless. I've used the ExpoDisc handheld version for several years and it works great. So does this version and once attached (however you do that) it doesn't require any extra hands.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Very Disappointing "Upgrade"
*by A***O on September 9, 2023*

I use this product because I shoot indoor volleyball and the light sources vary greatly (color, intensity, flicker, etc). Setting your camera's White Balance for the erratic light sources in these situations is essential. I have Version 1 of this product and it is AWESOME. I bought it over ten years ago and I still use it today with great results. I needed another ExpoDisc because I have a new mirrorless camera kit a that has it's own ExpoDisc. I tried to buy another Version 1 or even a Version 2 ExpoDisc (either new or used), but I couldn't find anything. So I bought Version 3 from Amazon. The product page lists all the improvemenrs to Version 3 over previous versions. It arrived next day in good condition. But upon inspection the latest version of this product is a serious step back in build quality.1) Version 1 was made of thick metal and glass. Version 3 is thin plastic. I mean thin.2) Version 1 had a nice snap/snap out in feature for use on a lens. This allowed you temporarily attach the device to the end of the lens, shoot into the light source, and then set the WB. When satisfied with the WB setting, you store it away. It doesn't stay on the camera. Version 3 apparently can thread into the lens like a filter. I'll never do this because it is made of plastic and I only need to use it for a few seconds. Who needs to have it mounted continuously?3) Version 1 had a well made carrying case that was both stiff and well padded (no worries about having it in a crowded camera bag). Version 3 has a flimsy carrying case. No rigidity, almost no padding. It won't protect the thin plastic Version 3 ExpoDisc in a crowded camera bag.4) Version 1 had a nice corded lanyard. Version 3 has a cheap cloth lanyard.Basically, EVERYTHING has become cheaper on this product as it went from Version 1 (awesome) to Version 3 (cheap). This isn't rocket science. This is a straight forward product with no moving parts. It serves an important but simple purpose. There is no huge leap in technology here. Yes it got lighter, but because the materials they used are cheaper and thinner. And the price didn't drop. I think I paid nearly the same amount 10+ years ago for a far better product. Shameful.Do yourself a favor, if you want this product, find Version 1. It is excellent. This version is NOT.
