### ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tough little backpack that does the basics, but will not turn you into Batman.

*by B***M on Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2015*

I use the Escapist on a daily basis, whether it's taking the metro/biking to work, taking it to the gym, or using it to haul small groceries. I'll say that the quality is fantastic, and hasn't shown any wear over the daily abuse I've inflicted on it, but I only give it 4-stars because it does what it's supposed to do -- but at a pretty hefty financial cost. I reserve 5-stars for items that not only excel in what they do, but are a bargain. I do, however, have some issued w/ the backpack:1. There is zero padding at the bottom of the backpack. I often carry a small laptop or ipad, and I have to place a small towel at the bottom to ensure that when I set it on the ground, it's not like dropping my computer on the hard ground every time. A basic level of padding would have done wonders here.2. The hardback internal curve, which is supposed to make it more comfortable to wear, greatly limits the types of things you can put in the bag. In other words, nothing "too" straight can go in w/o eating up unnecessary space.3. As other reviewers have mentioned, what is the point of having a shoulder-strap pocket if it can't fit a single thing in there? I still have not figured out a good use for this pocket. It doesn't fit a standard smart phone -- which would have been the most functional utility for this pocket -- and it doesn't fit a beer -- which would have been the 2nd more functional item to have in there. I'm puzzled.4. The hip straps -- when not in use, which is a majority of the time -- just dangle there like arms, just waiting to get stuck in your bike spoke or whatever. I wish they had placed a compartment to hide the straps, or even remove the straps all together until you needed them for a hike or whatnot.Again, the backpack does what it's supposed to do, but at it's price, it should do more than that.

    Working great so far

*by D***K on Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2013*

I bought this for long day hikes. I needed something small enough to be comfortable and unobtrusive, but big enough to carry rain suit, first aid kit, and some snacks and misc. small items. I've had a larger Osprey bag for over a year that I use for business trips, and its been rugged and useful, so I decided to give this one a try for the day hikes. So far this little pack has been great. The shoulder straps are comfy with the adjustable chest strap. I was initially worried that the thinnish waist band wouldn't work well, but the wider side panels help that and it's actually just fine. It does have a nice pocket for a hydration reservoir, but I haven't used that yet. Overall it's very comfortable to wear. The size is perfect for my needs. It's just big enough to carry rain gear, a change of clothes, and other small items. I can fit my 17" laptop in it, though I use a different bag for that regularly. The built-in rain cover does take a little space from the bottom of the main compartment, but that really doesn't bother me- its all about how you pack. It attaches with a secure clip in its own compartment and is removable if you need that little extra space. I just leave it in. I haven't had to use it yet, but sooner or later I will. I do wish the two mesh side pockets had drawstrings, but that's no biggie. They are great for small snacks, iPhone, etc. There is a little media pouch sewn into the left shoulder strap, but I haven't used it. It's big enough for a small music player, set of keys, Clif bar, etc. The separate top compartment is big enough for maps, camera, and first aid kit.Overall, This bag seems to hit a nice sweet spot between mobility and capacity. Theres a lot of utility in this pack, built into a compact package. Just what I needed.

    Great ventilation, and robust design

*by K***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2015*

I bought this backpack for use with my motorcycle and bicycle. I ride a Yamaha R6, and on a hot day, a normal backpack does not allow for any airflow betwen the pack and your back, causing a serious amount of sweat to build up. This pack has great ventilation, and definitely helps keep my back aired out and cool. The front pocket has a number of smaller pockets for easy organization, and the back pocket is perfect for a short trips worth of clothes. The top pocket is smaller, but fits a cell phone, wallet and keys fairly easily. There is a small rain cover that folds out from the bottom of the backpack, which is perfect for unexpected showers. All in all, this is a very robust backpack, perfect for riding on a hot day, or taking a short weekend trip on the bike.
