Review: Looks good, feels great, dubious about the kickstand... - Update: I’ve been using the phone with this case for a couple weeks now and I have to say it's been great. It fits in the hand quite well, and the design has really grown on me. Some people have complained about the knurled texture on the Bixby button, but I like it because it makes it easier to tell it apart the volume buttons without looking. I also have an app that rebinds the Bixby button to do other stuff (because seriously, nobody uses Bixby) so the button hasn't gone unused on my handset. The kickstand seems to be working great, although only in landscape modes. You can clearly tell from the product imaging that it couldn’t work in portrait, so that’s not really something to complain about. We’ll see in the months to come whether the kickstand will break, which I still think might happen. The case fits around my IQ Shield screen protector (their case friendly version, should come up with a quick desertcart search) without touching it, so no worries of peeling edges. Speaking of edges, the lip around the case does make it safe to set the phone down on its face without the screen touching the table. I haven’t had any trouble with touching / swiping near the edge of the screen either; the lip is recessed on either side (so if the phone is sitting face down only the top and bottom edges of the case will be touching the table below). Original Review ______________________________ TL;DR: This is my first Spigen case, so I can’t speak for their quality track record or customer service, but judging from other reviews I expect this’ll be a winner, especially for the price I was able to get it at (only around $16 US). The product packaging was simple and easy to open. Mine arrived without any damage, and with the relative flexibility of the slim box and case itself, I wouldn't expect yours to arrive broken either. The case looks tough enough for daily use; I wouldn’t expect to toss my phone off balconies and second story windows and have it survive, but if I did, I would’ve gotten a much heavier case. I’m usually protective of my phone, so I never bother spending massive amounts of dosh on big thick cases. This feels like it’ll be a good balance of protection and not making an already massive phone any bigger. I’m not sure how well the holes on the bottom will accommodate larger USB and 3.5mm connector jackets (for example, the 3.5mm jack on my ATH-M50X’s is quite large), but this is the first thing I plan to test when I get my phone. Also of note—many phone cases cite being MIL-STD-810 certified, however this is a very loosely applied standard, and doesn’t really mean much. Search for 'MIL-STD-810' on Wikipedia; there's a section specifically talking about how the rating applies to consumer electronics. About the kickstand… It says directly on the box that the kickstand is meant to balance the phones weight to stabilize itself—makes sense. However, I doubt I’ll be able to balance the phone in a portrait orientation with the kickstand because it’s offset so far to one side. Being offset, though, works to provide two different angles to prop the phone at in landscape mode, which is nice. I think if anything will break on this case, the kickstand will come first. The plastic pins used for the kickstand hinge are absolutely tiny, and I expect they will easily wear down over time, or just snap off. I’m also dubious of the plastic snap-type latch for the kickstand, I’ve had kickstand cases before from a few brands, and if the hinge didn’t break first, the plastic latch wore down and allowed the kickstand to come open and flap around freely. Overall, it's hard to complain with the otherwise quality feel of the case and its lower price point.
Review: Amazing case, great protection, sleek! - I love this case! I was looking for a low-profile case that also offered decent protection and wasn't super flashy. It just happens to be a bonus that this case is super sleek and high tech looking. This is my first Spigen case. I really like how my blue S9+ accents the gunmetal case. Pros: -Low-profile, sleek design does not make the phone feel oversized in my pocket -Dual layer protection for impact absorption -Large hole for the 3.5mm / USB-C jack, able to accommodate any size headphone plug or USB-C cable -The Bixby button has a nice texture to it, so you can easily feel it for those who use it and don't want to accidentally activate Bixby when trying to adjust volume instead (I disabled mine) Cons: None! Other thoughts (These are hardly worth taking off a star, but I thought I would mention them): -The raised lips are only on the top and bottom edge due to the curved edge of the phone. Both the left and right sides of the case are below the level of the screen. I highly recommend a screen protector for this reason. -The kickstand, in my opinion, is on the wrong side of the case. It should be on the opposite side so the volume buttons are easily accessible. As it stands, the volume buttons end up being on the bottom edge, so you'd need to pick up your phone to use them rather than press down from the top while your phone is propped up. I suppose you could prop up the phone so it lays more flat rather than vertical, but that isn't always convenient. Also I wish the kickstand was metal, as it is easily the first part of the case to fail if/when the time comes (it's already slightly bendy with only a tiny bit of pressure - maybe why they put it on the side with the volume buttons?) Overall, I think this was a great purchase and I recommend this case to anyone who wants a sleek, high tech looking case with good protection.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will it have a hole for both speakers? It doesn't seem to have the second hole for the second to speaker.**
A: There is a speaker at the bottom (like the S8) and the phone call speaker doubles as a media speaker. Neither are covered by the case.

**Q: What screen protector are you useing with this? ive so far tried 2 different ones and both have been awful.**
A: I'm using this one here:

Galaxy S9 Plus Screen Protector Case Friendly ArmorSuit MilitaryShield Lifetime Replacement Screen Protector For Galaxy S9 Plus https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4648NY?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Works great for me so far, very clear and no issues to report.

**Q: Does it have a raised edge all the way around, i.e. higher than the screen edge on the sides also?**
A: No, only the top and bottom of the case are higher than the screen, the sides are not higher than the screen. It is a great case with a great feel.

**Q: It didn't protect my phone, I now have hairline crack on the curve. Is there supposed to he a guarantee with this cover???**
A: This is a phone is curves. No matter how good a case is phone with curves have draw backs the edges will all ways be a place for cracks. Nothing you can do expect buy a phone without curves

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does Spigen make cases for cases?
*by E***9 on July 1, 2018*

I've tried a lot of different cases from different manufacturers, and I constantly find myself going back to this case. In fact, the biggest reason, for me, against using it, is because it looks so good. I'd hate the idea of dropping it. I might have to find a case for my case. I like the two layer aspect, the TPU lining and bumpers, combined with the stiff PC backing and sides helps put my mind at ease in regards to protection. Generally, the more layers, the better. It's hard to protect curved screens so most of the screen protection falls to the raised bezel at the top and bottom portion of the case. While not the largest bezels, they still rise high enough from the screen that you can set your phone down, screen side down, on a flat surface without having to worry about the phone resting on the glass itself. They're also high enough that with the use of a screen protector (like the amFilm Tempered Glass screen protector that I use on mine), the raised bezels still manage to keep the glass up and off a flat surface. Obviously, with my last statement, the case is relatively screen protector friendly. I've used it with both a film, and tempered glass protector, and was able to place the phone in the case without any lift on any of the edges or corners. So if your screen protector is "case friendly," than you should have no problems with this case fitting, which was very easy to do. The surface on the back is rather slick, so on an uneven or tilted surface, the phone could slide rather easily, but I find I don't have any problems with gripping the phone. The sloped edge on the camera cutout makes finding the finger print and health sensor very easy, helping to guide your finer into place. The TPU on the bottom edge of the case is a little on the thinner side, like they shaved the portion of the case along the ports down a little. The port holes themselves are large enough to accommodate most plugs without difficulty, for either the charging port or the 3.5mm jack. If you use a magnetic charging cable (I use a Wsken X cable mini 2), the little plug that stays in the charging port does peek past the TPU on the bottom. However, the larger corner bumpers are just thick enough, that if you were to lay the bottom edge flat, it would keep the magnet from just touching the surface (see photos). My biggest con in regards to the case has to be the little kick stand. While it's solid enough to keep the phone tilted up at a nice viewing angle, it does seem rather fragile. Also, there's no TPU covering the stand from the inside of the case. I would feel more comfortable with that kick stand if it were more solid, and also if there was at least a thin bit of TPU between it, and the phone, instead of a hole going straight through the TPU. All in all, for the price, I feel this is a fantastic case. While I haven't dropped my phone with it on, I feel confident that it would protect the phone from rather more common drops, like from the lap or pocket, or even head (or ear) height. I would just hate to scratch it because it definitely looks slick. This coming from someone that prefers clear cases to be able to see the beauty of the phone itself.
