I too am an older lady (65) and absolutely love this piece of equipment. Yes, some leverage is required, mainly from the upper arms to lift the grabbe up and put the leaves into the green bin, but if you have a smaller garden bag you won't have to lift it as high and that really is the only effort required. However, this more than compensates for not having to bend down to pick up leaves and garden debris saving pressure on the back and the knees. I would thoroughly recommend it and if you buy one you will wonder how you managed without it. **Q: From what material is made?** A: The handles are made from green-enamelled tubular steel, with soft foam across the top for the grip. The grab/collect surfaces are made from a robust green plastic: I guess it is either high-density polythene or polypropylene. It has proved to be to be strong and durable. The best tool in the shed, and most used in the garden. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works wonderfully and sturdy construction *by I***I on 24 July 2013* I bought this for my elderly aunt who likes to keep her garden clean of leaves from the tree's which are in and over hang the garden.And it works and does what I imagined it would.It is sturdy yet light weight (my elderly aunt can hold it, lift it, use it no sweat)And after a couple of years of use, it is still in tip top condition and looks great.This means the build quality is excellent as it hasn't broken or come loose in any way.And in usage, easy, dead easy - simply grab both handles (padded handles and comfortable to hold) use it closed to gather leaves or use it open to gather/scrape leaves and twigs/branches.Then gather up in the claws, simply close by pushing your hands together with the claws around your pile, lift up leaves/branches/twigs and open again to drop into green bin etc and job done.Piece of cake to use, and itis great (as mentioned) for twigs/branches - even heavier ones I have lifted (trimmed one of the trees) using this Grabbe. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good purchase *by A***R on 23 February 2017* The product is excellent and has been used several times since it was purchased. It is robust in quality and does a much better job than my previous version. It's easy to store and is very lightweight which is a major advantage. A great helper in picking up leaves, no more bending and attendant backache, no mucky gloves either from wet leaves.The slight angle on the handles makes it perfect to approach a heap of leaves holding the collector outwards while the two blades are level with the ground and grabbing a maximum amount of leaves, holding firmly together and lifting up into a wheelie bin once again the angled handles make for an easy transfer.
