Reading the description, it notes that it can 'Directly capture video from VHS,VCD,DVD,VCR, DV, camera and save into TF Card.' It is unclear on how, and as it stands, this is actually a limited process. Now, the diagram on the side does a good job of showing how this connects and what it does, but the information needs refinement.Basically, this is a AV in device that allows for data in, so device support is limited to that. There is no current in-types such as HDMI, so the items supported will be contingent on AV interfaces. For myself, this is basically limited to an older TV, a DVD player I use as a secondary device, an action camera that has an AV connection adaptor, and a handheld recorder I own. Now, do you need something like this? I can think of some niche functionality I still have, and my computer does not have the cording to connect older A/V devices (or the support to run some of them, either), so I can say, 'it depends.' I know that is vague, too, but it really is contingent on your technology and the niche recording need.Now, for output, this connects via USB, so you can use it with a computer interface. I was happy with this portion of the device, because it was a quick plug-and-play use. Basically, this worked as a converter, taking whatever source material it had been plugged into to receive, capturing it and saving it to your card in the process, so you can capture and move items.Use here is easy: After you have inserted your card, you simply plug it into what AV source you want to record from and hit the giant red button. The AV connector is on one side of the item and is situated by itself, so there is no confusion about what to interface to. When you are done, connect the USB side of this, located on the end with the power buttons, and copy/move/remove your recording as you wish. You have two indicators on the device, power and action, to let you now what function is currently in use/if it is working.
