Whether this is a good trumpet to play I leave to others to decide. This was for my daughter. Just wanted to report that the trumpet was in excellent shape and fully functional, as advertised. We saved a bundle over renting an identical unit from the school. Review: Not bad, but expected a little better... - I purchased this trumpet in July 2011 for my son going into 6th grade. I am a former Bach Strad owner in the 80's. While this instrument looks great and sounds OK, the valves aren't crisp no matter how you oil them. Also, one of the spit valves does not seal well against the cork (spring is off and can't be adjusted properly). It is serving my son well (always a top chair out of 20) and I will keep it.
