The tool includes a spanner wrench for zero in adjustments. No directions except for a 'reading example' diagram so people learning should visit youtube for calibrating and reading. The Vernier scale is easy to read and lines up well to the thimble. And the ratchet / stop speeder works smooth and keeps from over tightening. With this tool, it would be wise to have a feeler gauge to verify measurements with known thicknesses.Negatives: 1. Digital readout is off by .0005 to the Vernier scale (example: at zero, the thousandth place is between 0 and 1). 2. Unknown if damage would occur to digital readout when performing proper care & maintenance by unscrewing thimble to check for spindle nut tightness and oiling.Overall, after calibration this Micrometer has done its job and so far I've made over 50 measurements without any problems. It's not perfect but worth the money. These will do fine until I can afford something better. If you have the money to spend on something better, then I suggest that you do.
