Slight spoilers, but it's great that the author decided to tell the story of an arranged marriage from a young man's perspective this time, instead of a girl's. We really get to like and sympathise with the main character Manny, and coming from a non-Punjabi upbringing it was interesting to read about. It's equal parts amusing, tense, saddening...but ultimately our hero gets the ending he deserves. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A mixture of emotions *by Z***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 June 2012* Its a good story. I enjoyed reading about the indian family and enjoyed the familiarity of how things are said and done in the indian household. I laughed out loud at the bit when the main character picked up a left over pakora and put it in an empty cassette case. I could see it squashed and covered in tomato ketchup. I also enjoyed his description of how dry his mouth felt after he fell asleep in the sun. Like an allsations armpit....ha ha ha h!!!I thought the story was very negative towards indian people and I only hope that readers dont believe that thats what attitutdes are really like in the indian culture, especially in this day.I loved the main character but felt frustrated that he didnt reach out for help when he was being treated so badly....but then....that would change the story. I expect a sequel.... I want to hear more about the rebel uncle and what has happened to his family and life. Do they meet again when the boy grows up and has his own family....??? Bali... can we have a sequel please. The writer is so open and honest. Its also is unusual and wonderful to hear the forced marriage perspective from a males point of view, as women are the ones often associated with forced marriage and running away from it! This one is a male1 its refreshing! I wish more males would come forward and trell their story! I couldnt put this book down, it made me laugh, cry shock all of the emotions! It all turnes out ok for him in the end!
