The box had floppy hinges. These torque hinges are working much better. The only downside is that the box no longer stands vertical on the hinges when closed, but of course the idea is to have it horizontal and open for painting. :) Review: Made a paintbox with these. My husband replaced the original flimsy hinges on the paint box with these ones to make the lid to stay upright and withstand the pressure of a paintbrush strokes and the hinges did the trick.
