They are made of lighweight aluminium but the stand is heavy enough it doesnt fall over but light enough for you to move it around at will. The main benefit for me is that i can now read my books without having to put my glasses on. The head can be directed to exactly where you want it to be. Cannot wait to give my nana hers, she needs a light but we didnt want the mess of cables for her to trip over so this is the perfect soloution.
